Who is FLO DEL?
In January of 2021, JJ started creating 1000 Mile Smiles through his Florida and Delaware weather reports with his good friend Shawn. Those brief weather reports evolved and began including words of wisdom, and continuous hydration advice while spreading love with his many famous, inspiring and often comical quotes.
By the middle of October 2022 and JJ already having established himself as “FLO DEL”, we decided that the rest of the DE retirees needed names too. Lisa followed first and took on the nickname “FLO DELA”. Soon after, Sharon as “FLO YO”.
In late December 2022, JJ, sitting on the sofa hydrating while Lisa was cooking dinner, was told that his vision had great potential. This is when JJ decided to consider trademarking “FLO DEL” and start selling merchandise similar to the hats and tumblers that Lisa’s daughter Marisa had handcrafted and given as gifts...
While in Florida in January 2023, the group of Delaware retirees officially became known as FLO DEL, Inc. After hours of intense brainstorming, and excessive hydrating, the first edition of the FLO DEL Koozie was created.
The team agreed that the first edition Koozie needed to be rebranded with a unique FLO DEL logo. Naturally, we reached out to the artist of the group, JJ who has always been known by his family and friends for crafting his personalized round beach drawings on birthday, Christmas, and anniversary cards. This drawing even appeared on the wall in Lisa and JJ’s grandson’s bedroom in Delaware! Who would have known that with a few edits here and there, and Sharon’s brilliant idea to incorporate the shape of Delaware into the picture, JJ’s high school drawing would eventually turn into what is now the current “FLO DEL” logo!
Our vision is to continue creating merchandise that will generate a lifestyle that embraces 1000 Miles of Smiles. We sincerely appreciate the love and support that we have received so far, and genuinely look forward to expanding the FLO DEL family!
